We know we need to exercise. That we ought to exercise. Yet somehow, the excuses keep coming. And coming. And coming.
Not here to cast stones, mind you. I’ve used my fair share over the years. Which should be obvious by the sheer volume of this infographic list. (Anyone who can actually sit down and think up 99 excuses to avoid exercise, you can believe it’s not their first time at the rodeo. Except #96. Not my deal, but the stories I’ve heard….)
I knew that I was only cheating myself, though. Not to mention delaying the inevitable. Because at some point, after dragging yourself around feeling lethargic, puffy and out-of-sorts (or downright sick), you say “Enough of this crap,” pull your big girl underpants on, and go work out.
After which you immediately feel better, and wonder (a) why didn’t I make this choice sooner, OR (b) why on earth did I ever stop?
So sure, enjoy the infographic below and have a few laughs. Maybe, like me, you’ll recognize a few of your own excuses. (Did I miss any? Do tell!)
But then afterwards…
Get up and do something. Anything. Because the truth is, your body doesn’t care about your excuses. It will continue to either serve or fail you, based on the sum of small daily decisions you make to either support it, or wreck it…one forkful or inactive day at a time. There is no neutral action, even in taking no action at all.
Deep down, each of us knows this.
